Where You Spend Eternity Is Up To You

God gives people the freedom to choose their eternal destination…so where they go for eternity is their OWN doing…not God’s. At the time of death, God merely enforces the choice THEY have made. When people determine that they want a life void of God…even though that is NOT what God wants…He GIVES them what they are determined to have…an eternity void of God…i.e. hell. “Hell is God’s last act of love to people who will accept nothing else at His hand. He leaves one corner of the universe for which they can call their own, and in which they can continue to live for all eternity as though He did not exist.” — Fred A Brown God has made it very clear what people must do in order to be successful with Him…and most people aren’t interested in even trying to be successful with God. Yes, God has set both good and evil before people…and in what can only be categorized as foolishness, perverseness, and rebellion…far more people choose the evil than the good…but then they want to blame and condemn God for the evil they find themselves in. More people than not take pleasure in “partying” (i.e. drunkenness and wantonness)…without regard for how many lives and families have been destroyed by just having a little “fun”. More people than not take pleasure in things God commands us to hate (e.g. they love movies filled with immorality and murder)…without regard for the impact on society or the devaluing of human life. Even God’s most basic and fundamental commandments such as love thy neighbor as thy self…be humble…be kind…be truthful and honest…be good…be moral…honor your parents…these are increasingly rejected as people move more and more to the opposite of what God wants and stands for. Here is what that looks like: “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;” — 2 Timothy 3:2-4 Having said all of this…it is particularly interesting how people condemn God for doing the very same thing they would do if they were in God’s position. To explain what I mean…imagine a scenario where you have done your very best to befriend and guide a wayward guy who constantly gets himself in trouble…a guy who constantly selects the wrong choices and engages in the wrong actions…a guy who sometimes hurts and harms both himself and other people…and no matter how much you try to befriend and guide him, he STILL goes the wrong way and does the wrong things. Moreover, the longer you try to befriend this guy, the more he begins to stand against everything you stand for…and even worse, out of resentment for your friendliness and desire to help, he starts wanting to hurt you and your spouse. Given this scenario, here is the question: would you welcome this guy into your home to stay with you for the long-term? Of course you would not! If YOU would not do this, then why would you expect God to welcome people who hate Him and what He stands for into His home? But more than just God Himself…what about the good people who ARE in God’s home? Would you welcome a person into your home who despises your spouse and wants to hurt him/her? Of course you would not! So, why would you expect God to welcome people into His home who hurt and harm others…people who steal, lie, cheat, deceive, break up homes, and kill…people who break any of the 10 Commandments…so they could CONTINUE hurting and harming the good people in God’s home? Well regardless of what people think of God, He is NOT so stupid that He is going to bring those who reject and despise Him and His people into His home. I have to come back to this question: why would anyone expect God to let people into Heaven who have made earth a kind of hell? Heaven would not be Heaven if God let people in who would just turn around and turn it into a kind of hell. This earth is where people are given YEARS of OPPORTUNITY to select and create the kind of eternity they are going to live in. That sounds like a righteous and just God to me. Bottom line, the option to select God and good is presented to everyone. It is NOT God’s fault if many select otherwise. God created many living things…but He gave the special gift of choosing between right and wrong to just ONE of those creations: humanity. With that choice comes great consequences…either for good…or for bad.
